We had the bittersweet opportunity to complete this trip that my Mom had planned to go on with my great Aunt. After my Mom passed away suddenly, my Aunt offered to my wife and I the chance to go on this trip in their place. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of Banff and the incredible hospitality of our guides. Exploring these out of the way spots and the little details made this trip magical and the beauty of it all deeply healing for us.

I have travelled with Austin adventures before, so I knew the quality they deliver. The itinerary is well delineated giving time for things you might not think of doing on the way to Big Attractions like Yellowstone. The attention to that detail eg doing loops instead of retracing steps in the driving path as well as hiking is deeply appreciated. The accommodation and activities result from connections and relationships, so you get the best available, esp in the Absaroka Mountains. It's wonderful to meet 6th generation cowboys on your outride, and really understand their lifestyle.
Without a doubt the guides are what makes the tour seamless and special. They know how to engage and get the disparate people talking and engaged and playing together as a group. Their attentiveness and anticipation of your needs is remarkable. Our two guides, Bryson and Jamie, were exceptional in their knowledge, warmth and cheerful attentiveness.

Our family was traveled multiple times with Austin Adventures domestically in the U.S. Our children have grown up with their trips. This was our first international trip with Active Adventures, and our first adult trip (we went the adult trip route now that our youngest is 17). The trip did not disappoint, and all of us LOVED it. Switzerland was beautiful. We felt that we explored parts of Switzerland that we would not have picked on our own. Likewise on activities - we would have never thought of doing a via ferrata, and it was AWESOME. We enjoyed mountain views from not just vehicles, but biking, hiking, and climbing. The food and lodging picks were excellent. When weather didn't cooperate as planned one day, our guides developed a really fun and creative plan B. They also came up with a great suprise activity on our last night. Small tour groups are fun, and we enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers. The trip is very active, and we were glad we were in decent physical shape. We also felt that our guides did a great job of keeping things interesting and physically challenging, yet safe and not overwhelming. Our guides also worked really hard behind the scenes so that all we needed to do was show up and have fun. Everybody in our family would rate this trip as our favorite one to date. And that is saying a lot since we have loved all our prior Austin trips. Our kids are now asking when we are doing another one.

Our trip was more than we imagined. The Inca Trail hike was extremely challenging, but our guide and porters encouraged us to keep going and the end result (Machu Picchu) was life changing!! The trip to the Amazon was extremely well planned and we were amazed not only by the wildlife, but of the knowledge that our guide was able to share with us. All of this would not have been possible without our Active Adventure guide....Salvador! We would love to travel with him again!! He was kind, patient, efficient, organized, and knowledgeable! We appreciate all of our drivers, hotel staffers, etc......but most of all....Salvador!!

What a beautiful trip- Alaska has been on my bucket list for years. The variety of activities we enjoyed along our journey was truly amazing. The hiking challenged me on a personal level, but that was what my goal was. I loved kayaking so much, and the rafting trip was exceptional. Liz and Jessi truly went out of their way to make us feel safe at all times as well as encouraged us through our journey. I can honestly say I would not have encountered a polar plunge on my own, let alone 3 polar plunges. Liz and Jessi had a gentle persuasion in challenging ourselves both on the hiking trails and our extra-curricular activities. Their personalities were so fun and they worked well together. Both of them were so professional. I appreciate all that they did to make this a trip of a lifetime for me!!

The Kenai Peninsula and Denali trip was extraordinary! The weather was great, all of the activities - Resurrection Bay Cruise where we saw humpback whales bubble feeding, puffins and sea lions and came right up to a glacier calving with lots of sea otters floating on their backs, the rafting down the Kenai River, the strenuous but fantastic hike to the Harding Icefield and then up to Denali Park, kayaking, saw the salmon running, multiple hikes with fantastic views! It couldn't have been more perfect or fun! The guides, Liz and Jessi , were professional, knowledgeable, always attentive and so much fun to hang out with.

My British Columbia trek was a lot of fun. The hiking was beautiful and the guides were excellent. All of the wildflowers and gorgeous rock formations were a bonus as well. Being out in nature with no other people around was one of the highlights as we saw no one outside of our group for 4 whole days! I would highly recommend this trip to someone looking to get away from it all.

This is a wonderful trip through a beautiful area of what I would call wilderness - I am from the US. The only people around are your group - that's it. You see no one else and have the forest/mountains to yourselves - as far as you can see. This is a marvel compared to other hikes I have taken where I run into people all of the time which kind of ruins the experience. The huts were the only 'intrusion' in the area and were greatly appreciated. Guides, accommodations, food and hiking were second to none. This is my second trip through Austin Adventures and each was superb. I'm doing another trip soon.

The Kenai Fjords and Denali Adventure exceeded my expectations. The guides: Jessia and Liz catered for and covered all aspects of our needs to ensure maximum enjoyment. The highlight was the plane trip to Denali and walking on Ruth Glacier - surreal.

I can’t say enough good things about this trip!
Location: Lovely and pristine, wildflowers galore and not another soul around
Guides: Will and Ben are fabulous, really kept us going when we flagged. Their patience with us is truly appreciated.
Overall: We had such a great group! The camaraderie between guests and guides was exceptional, with a special shout out to Tim and Jeremy for making the Huts are home away from home.

A challenging and scenically rewarding trip far away from the madding crowd. Loved the opportunity to hike in such a remote area and end each day in a comfortable hut - with wonderful hot meals, saunas and sheets on the bed. Appreciated that the hut-to-hut hikes could be enhanced with various side trips to nearby peaks, lakes or scenic overlooks. Incredible views despite smoky air.

Our small group of five clients was, unfortunately, not compatible in hiking ability. Three of us were trained and fit; the two others, not so much. Our guides Will and Ben deserve medals for their patience and kindness in helping the struggling couple get up - and especially down - some steep terrain. The guides strived to accommodate those of us who wanted to hike more, and faster, and kept morale up among all of us amid difficult circumstances.

This was our first group trip and we didn't know what to expect. It exceeded anything we could have imagined in terms of the guides and the entire smooth process. Derek and Moose (Michael) are top notch. They were knowledgeable, anticipated our needs, great ambassadors for the area and Austin Adventures. They were attentive and the little touches like refreshments and snacks, in addition to the excellent lunches, were much appreciated. The days were well planned out; interesting and thoroughly enjoyable!

My boyfriend and I joined Active Adventures for the second time for the Ultimate Iceland Adventure after having a wonderful time in the Galapagos last year. After such an exceptional vacation, we were worried that our trip to Iceland would struggle to compare. Our worries were unfounded! We were blown away by the beauty and history of this country, and the knowledge and passion of our guides, Kim and Dagny. By some meteorological miracle, we had perfect weather that allowed stunning views of waterfalls, mountains, and fjords, as well as puffins and sheep galore. The hotels and even the backcountry "huts" were comfortable and welcoming, and even as vegetarians, we were able to enjoy delicious Icelandic dishes (plus all the blueberries we could pick along the trails!). I'd recommend the trip to any friend who is up for an adventure.

This trip was my second trip with Active Adventures and I love it. The scenery was beautiful and we were well taken care of during the entire trip. Ben and Tom worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time and they went above and beyond. Our group was very small, which was a huge plus in my mind and everyone got along great. I don't bike regularly but I highly recommend this biking tour. It was not difficult and offered another way to see Austria's beautiful countryside.
